Twinkle's Balthazar Vest

I think my next project is this vest, designed by Wenlan Chia, from her book, Twinkle's Big City Knits. I think this entire outfit is just darling, and I want it. I've checked out the completed vests on Ravelry, and see that quite a few people have had problems with the pattern, or are unhappy with the fit, so I'm proceeding with caution. I don't have the size 19 circulars, but I've ordered them. I'm going to give it a shot with 17s for now, because I don't want to wait. For more about Twinkle, click here.

That's cute! Is there just one cable down the front? On both sides? Any in the back? I think I can make a pattern on my sweater wizard....

Sweater Wizard is a computer sofware program that you can design your own sweaters on. http://www.knittingsoftware.com/sweaterwiz.htm
There is also sock wizard. You just enter your style sweater (cardigan, pull over, vest) style (a-line, tunic, cropped) sleeve length, neck style, hoodie, etc. Then put in the needle size, gauge... it's a real easy click, click process and it tells you how many yards of the yarn you will need. It's great when you have inherited two walk in closets of yarn and no patterns.

I'm making something from that book next too. Either the Karate or Rockefeller sweater. Are you using Twinkle yarn?

I'm on a pretty tight budget, so I can't afford the Twinkle yarn, unfortunately. I love the Karate and Rockefeller sweaters too! I might make a few things from this book since they knit up fast.

thanks for the sweater wizard tip! i didn't even know it was out there. i'm going to have to check it out. :)

What stitches make up the yarnover pattern?

It's just k2tog, YO on the right sid, then ssk, YO on the left, so they angle differently. i'm excited to see how it turns out on your sweater wizard!

I like that yo stitch, it makes a nice little braid looking thing.... This weekend I'll post pictures of my sweater I started last weekend. I need some blogging tutoring first and my daughter will be home to help me. I'm also frogging a whole sweater I designed last winter to make it into something else... it just didn't do anything for me. I need something thick and fast to work on during lunch.
